The vendor next to him had a bunch of baby quail in brooder tanks. Quail are precocial birds, meaning that they can walk around and feed themselves shortly after they hatch, just like chickens. Weaning isn't an issue for them because they were never parent fed or hand fed in the first place.

The quail guy had a couple of chukar partridges that looked sort of like quail or chickens. Nice fat-looking birds. I thought they were cool.

The magpie jays were at the very top of the stack of cages that had the peacocks down at the bottom, up higher than my head. I could see them there for several hours then they disappeared later in the day.

Look what I found - a bird club in my area that will have a bird fair the next month! Not sure if they would be very helpful in rehoming some of my birds as it seems that there is only 7 members but we will see

If they're big enough to have an annual bird fair they must have a lot more than 7 members. I think that might be the number of people who have joined the website - there's a button on the page that lets you join the site.

I would suggest contacting them now to ask about help with rehoming the babies - there are email addresses and a message box at http://peepbirdbclub.webs.com/about-us-join The day of the bird fair will be a busy time for the officers so they might be kind of rushed then, and talking to them in advance will give you more time to think about your options. You might even decide to become a vendor at the bird fair if you're willing to sell the chicks, or cooperate with another vendor.

Actually I am happy as we are. I hate changes. Everything is good and peaceful in my house right now. Cuddles is recovering. Trillie is doing nothing. All the kids are playing HARD and having a very good time together. If only things would stay this way, I would never need to make any changes. I am capable of this number of birds if everything stays this way. But it probably won't.

I am not sure if the club is active at this time. Forum hasn't had any new posts for more than a year. Calendar doesn't show anything except this spring fair event. But of course I will contact them to find out.

You can be pretty sure that at some point mom and dad will want to have more babies, and the current chicks will want to have babies too - with each other! If you're diligent with the hormone control techniques you will probably be able to keep a lid on the breeding activity. But if you don't take action fast enough you might get some eggs, and then you'll have to make a decision about what to do with them.

I just came back from the Fair.
Bight some toys. I am kind of concerned that toys came from the places that handle lots of other birds. Any hazards because of that? Anything I should do before I give toys to my birds?

I've gotten toys from bird places before. I've never had any issues. It's not that I don't care, but where I live, there is just no avoiding that sort of thing.

It's always a good idea to clean things before you use them. Wash it if it's washable or bake it to kill germs if it's bakeable (make sure it doesn't fill the house with noxious fumes). If it's not washable or bakeable then wait a few weeks before you use it - hopefully any germs on it will perish in the meantime.

thank you.
I didn't take my birds there to sell because I hate to give them away in a hurry. If somebody wanted to buy them, that's it. You take the money and don't have the bird. No time to think if you like this person or not.
But I talked to some breeders there and got some advice.
