They have a few other names including rose-throated parrot and spinifex parrot, but they're best known as princess parrot or princess of wales. Which is unfortunate because it's sort of an awkward species name for a male. They're not super common, even in the wild.

My camera is a Sony Cybershot that's several years old. I'm not sure what the model number is but it doesn't matter because they must have moved on to newer models by now. It's one of their lower-priced models but not the very bottom of the line.

He's starting to come out of his shell more and act silly when he's out of the cage with me. This morning when I took him out in the back yard he ran under the pyracantha bush and started nibbling on the berries. It's OK, they're bird-safe and I planted the bush as food for wildlife, but he seems to like the berries better than the wild birds do lol.

At first it seemed like he didn't know how to eat anything but seed, but after I started mixing pellets with the seed instead of putting them in a separate bowl he started eating them too. So that's good.

He's beautiful!

That bird mart was crazy! I've never been to one but had this one marked down on my calendar for the past few months. I couldn't believe all the different birds there. I told my husband about the pair of toucanets (sp?) and he spent some time watching videos of them. They are so cute and funny but I'm sure they would be a handful. There were lots of other birds I've never even heard of before and I had no idea there were so many types of colorful finches.

After my son leaves the nest, I'd love to get an IRN. They had a few there that were quite pretty. He's only ten, so I have some time to mull it over. ;)

The fall bird mart is the biggest one of the year because more birds are available then. Most of the babies are born in the spring and a lot of them aren't weaned in time for the spring bird mart. As a general rule the prices are great on just about anything at the bird mart, and I buy most of my seed and supplies there. I go there as a seller too, and sold my last 3 babies in the first hour of the bird mart.
