I am waiting very impatiently until MM and Georgie abandon the nest. I see that Marshmallow is slowly giving up on them :)

Georgie is sitting on them more, and more since Marshmallow is sitting on the less, and less. When will it be okay to remove it? I really want to adds bird shower but I can't when all the perches are stuck on one corner because the other side is being guarded by Georgie. I don't want him to make another clutch because Marshmallow laid 12 eggs under the age of 18 months (3 clutches).

When is it safe to remove it? I didn't keep track of how long it was there. I am going to leave the nest box lid open to make them feel insecure (I just thought of that) :D

They usually stop on their own around the same the eggs should start hatching. They will realize they won't hatch and abandon them.

Marshmallow is the one you have to worry about, since Georgie won't lay eggs no matter how hormonal he is. You'll have to try and judge how hormonal MM is, and yank the nest the moment it seems like she's not keen on breeding. Separate them if possible until Georgie's hormone levels go down too - otherwise he'll do his song and dance routine to get her in the mood again.

I removed the nest. Georgie is over protective with Marshmallow :( I bet they are going to mate today :(

Can you put one of them in a different cage? That's guaranteed to stop them from mating.

Yes, I definitely will.

How long until I can release him back in the aviary?

I decided I won't seperate them. It's just more work with cleaning and feeding. Also, thecagee is very small and I don't have any toys to put in it.

Should I just give them the nest and let them have another clutch with dummy eggs?

I am really confused. Should I just rehome Georgie? Then again, Im going through a rough time and maybe it's just a frustrated thought.

I can't make long nights for the aviary, but I can make it 24 hour daylight. But my parents will be upset so I can't really do that either.

I'm lost :(

I don't want this egg madness anymore :( :( :(

I wouldn't give them a nest and dummy eggs. That will just encourage them to try to keep breeding.

Egg madness is the price we pay for putting boys and girls together. They have a natural urge to breed. If you can put a removable partition in the aviary with food and water on both sides, you can keep the sexes apart during the "let's breed" portion of the year. It might not eliminate egg laying, but you won't have to worry about them hatching.

It's hard to do that without redoing the whole aviary. I would need to put two doors.

I don't think my parents would want that either.
