Hey guys, so I'm not going to start online college for a while and I've been practicing my painting. I don't have any solid examples on the work I do, but I would like to practice on some of your birds. I would prefer larger birds, no budgies yet, too intricate and I don't have the painting skill to do that yet.

Now this is just to practice, it probably won't look that good.

Does Dweezil fit the bill? If so, you could always cheat and paint him with non-clipped wings. He'd appreciate that lol. I'll be so happy when his feathers grow out and he can really learn how to fly.

Thanks guys. I just want to practice painting, so these are pretty much scraps, so I will be doing them on cold pressed all purpose paper, not a canvas, since those are super pricey.

Bob, I work better with a good face on pose, side positions look sort of odd when in painted form.

I'll work on Dweezil tomorrow, he is suitable. :)

The Dweezil pic was taken in my back yard. He's sitting in a desert willow tree with a pyracantha bush in the background.

He is. At the time he was severely clipped and had no idea of how to fly, and couldn't get further than about two inches by flapping his wings. He's grown in some wing feathers since then and has started learning how to use them, so I don't let him sit in trees like this any more.

He is so pretty among the green leaves! is he not getting scared by all the wild birds that you probably have around? My tiels are easily spooked by anybody who flies by. Another question: is it impossible to hmm... maybe catch a disease while being the wild? not sure what kind of it but something related to wild animals living in the nature?

It was only for a few minutes, and I was standing right next to him the whole time so the wild birds weren't coming anywhere near. We have a lot of hawks in the area so it's unwise to leave a lunch-sized parrot unattended lol. I made sure the branch was poop-free before I put him on it too. Sunlight is a great disinfectant (the UV rays kill germs) and the sunlight here is VERY strong. He was as safe in the tree as he would have been indoors.
