I have put up another video a while back and now somebody is asking me for advice...

If you want to see the video, here it is:
phpBB [video]

The person asking me a question wants to know how to stop his couple teals from laying eggs and abandoning the chicks from the previous nest before they are fully weaned...

I don't know there is a way to do so...

Usually cockatiels will continue to take care of the first clutch while they're laying a second clutch. Once I even saw someone recommend putting up a second nestbox for the second clutch, saying that the male would continue to feed the babies in the first nestbox. I don't know whether this really works though.

Does the pair have a previous breeding history where someone would always pull the chicks at a certain age for handfeeding? If that happened, the parents have been taught that the babies will disappear at this age, and the parents' responsibilities are over when the chicks reach that age. It might help retrain the parents if the owner leaves the babies in the nest, and handfeeds them sometimes to make sure that they get enough to eat. The babies will still beg the parents for food when they see them, and maybe the parents will deliver at least part of the time.

I did, but as expected no response from the original poster... YouTube isn't a very rewarding place for me ... :bigsmile100:
