With cockatiels it's normal to have squabbles at bedtime. A distance between birds that was perfectly acceptable during the day suddenly becomes unacceptable when it's time to roost. I call it "night time is the right time for a fight".

Mine is "Night time... bite each other in the face time."

Sometimes the other one just won't be quiet.

Stephanie is a lot more avant garde than the rest of us. That's why her bedtime poem doesn't rhyme.

Waffles is back in with Ninja and Cloud because they were driving the rest of the household nuts with their calling to one another. I thought it would calm down after a few days but no, once they hear one another (and man, their hearing is so good!) the calling starts and doesn't stop. So, in order to keep my marriage intact, I put Waffles back in with the other two. But on the days I'm home (or when the house is empty), I'm now putting the budgies cage next to Coyote's and after I gave all the budgies a fresh clip (they're still all very untame and with the cat and all, I need the ability to catch them in a flash), I started letting them all out at the same time. Coyote looooves checking out their cage and is very interested in the budgies in general. Ninja is a little interested in Coyote, but not too much. Waffles is "whatever" about everything. Cloud is, surprisingly, entranced with Coyote. She's such a little princess about everything and is always yelling at Ninja and Waffles for one thing or another but Coyote... well she follows him around and I think I see her eyes turn into little hearts when she's gazing at him.

Coyote is interested in the budgies but only at a distance. If they get too close, he hisses and lunges. He loves their toys and cage and food and all of that though, so he dutifully waits for them to all exit so he can go inside and play with all of their stuff.

The budgies like climbing all over the top of Coyote's cage and jumping back and forth from the outside of their cage to the top of his. They're fun to watch and I like that I can now keep Coyote entertained when the house is empty.

Ninja has figured out how to get inside Coyote's cage! He's sort of freaking right now and walking upside down along the top of the cage. Waffles is helping him out by nipping at his toes and helling at his face from the top of the cage. Why he's panicking, I have no idea. The budgies lived in this cage for a while before I got Coyote, so they know it well. Birds are cute, weird and kind of dumb sometimes (but in a good way).

Coyote is "whateves" about it and preening over by the budgies' cage.

DON'T POOP IN THE WATER, NINJA, I SEE YOU EYEING IT. (I'm doing that gesture where I point at my eyes with my first and second finger and then pointing them at him)

Pooping in the water is a cockatiel's job after all.
