Nero was one of Rome's more notorious bad boys. Caligula tops him but offhand I can't think of anyone else who does.

Well, wasn't Nero the one that provided the music while Rome burned?

That's what they say but it's apparently an urban legend.

But all that 666/number of the beast stuff is apparently a gematria code referring to Nero.

Doesn't 666 refer to the devils? Probably 100% off topic lol.

666 appears in Revelation, which is all about the apocalypse and the second coming of Christ. The usual interpretation is that 666 refers to the Antichrist. But people in the know say that Revelation is loaded with references to the Roman Empire because all the predicted action is expected to take place in the very near future while Rome was still a superpower ruling that part of the world. This is very obvious if you read the book with that in mind. Nero was already dead at the time Revelation was written, but the author expected him to come back to life and wreak some more havoc.

Well, Nero was responsible for half of Rome burning down.
His name in italian (Nerone) isn't half as cool as the latin one.
He was pretty crazy, between other things he killed his mother, was responsible for weakening the roman empire (not the only one though), etc etc...
Still I find the name Nero very good especially for a crazy bird. I might consider it myself in the future :plot2:
