Well, in a honest answer, to get what you want, you would need to reduce the number of tiels for it to be a safe mix. The whole thing is space. If they have enough room to get away if the other bird is being bossy and plenty of food so there is no fighting, it can work. It is possible. Together in a cage? Definitely not.

It could work, but you would have to introduce them slowly.

Great. So I'll try and get myself a conure. It's not going to be soon though.

And just a positive note to think about. If you still really want a conure, and you said that your mom likes them, you could also add a little more space to the aviary as well. Just a thought.

But, don't get too caught up in the possible new bird excitement. Write down those positives and negatives, birds you'd like to keep and birds you could do without and really think it through. I said it earlier, but if I really want something, I write it down on a scrap of paper and put it away for a week. If I am still thinking about it strongly a week later, usually I'll go get it.

One alternative would be to subdivide the aviary with a wire panel. Conures could stay on one side and tiels on the other. Another alternative would be to talk your mother into letting the conure stay in the house lol, but they can be very loud so she might not want that. Maybe consider what the neighbors would think about it too.

But if I do recall, his neighbors have an yellow naped amazon I believe, so I'm not sure if those neighbors would mind it. But then again, sunnies have a pretty unique shriek.

I don't care whether those neighbors are happy with the shriek or not. They were upset because I owned a rooster that made the loudest call at 4:00am. I can understand that but a little sun conure won't make any trouble. I bet they won't even notice it. The only problem I am having is with the housing.

Maybe I can have my own conure in my own house in the future. I'll just live with my tiels now. I don't want another bird.

Would it help to talk to your parents about it? I know they're not the most bird-sympathetic people in the world, but if your mother likes conures she might be more cooperative.

Divide your aviary.... concurs and Tiels do
not mix, it would be a constant worry...
Can you go and help out somewhere, that has Concurs? how many tiels do you have now? Could you downsize by half and see how it feels...
