I have no idea really. I had no previous experience so it took a lot more time than an experienced person would need. I think I spent about $300 on the materials.

We finally completed 2 large screens to cover empty spaces on my front porch. The porch is surrounded by a wall, another wall that has a front door, a roof, and 2 sides were open. The screens are just wooden frames with hardware cloth in between. The porch is about 5ft by 6 ft with the sun in the first part of the day.
So what you think? Of course they are too scared to go out into their new outdoor area. I have had front door open for them all day today and it's windy - not a good day to start ( i hope not to get too many flies indoors). I moved their large cage to the porch to entice them - no luck so far. I tried to grab a bird to lock in the cage thinking maybe others would come join - no luck either.....

Just wait until it isn't windy. They might be more willing to go when it stops.

I am in Kansas, wind lives here :)
Anyway, today I managed to put 3 birds out of 10 in the cage, and moved the cage in the porch area. I left the house door open. Soon 6 other birds were outside sitting on the top of the cage. 1 [most stupid] stayed in the house.

Thanks.
all 10 went out today but we needed to do it in the morning as later we are promised very strong wind with direction blowing right into the porch (normally this side of the house if less windy)
Approach of getting some of them locked in the cage outside, with others fly out to join, works for now. But today I had to keep Cuddles and Trillie caged since they woke up, these two are problematic to get outside. Kids are less conservative and go straight to where the parents are!
My concern is that porch is a naturally dirty place where creatures like spiders, etc live (right now there is none, I checked)... I am trying to clean it as much as I can, but yesterday my birds were sitting on top of the screen door and when later I decided to wipe it, my paper towel was BLACK. How do birds do about getting to the dirty stuff? Is their immunity well enough? what if somebody lands on the floor where people walk in dirty shoes many times a day?
When they are in the shade, do they still receive UV light?
Trillie already grew his long tail feather that I accidentally pulled out not long ago! I can't believe how quickly he did it!
Darn, I just noticed how greener the neighbor's grass is! :)))

Wild birds have to live with dirt because it's part of the natural environment, so it's something they're adapted to. When there's really a lot of windblown dust in the air it might be best to keep the birds inside to protect their lungs, but dust that's sitting on a surface shouldn't be a problem.

Birds tend to be nervous about new situations, but once they get used to being out on the porch I bet they'll love it. They'll get UV in the shade too - not as much as when they're in direct sunlight, but UV bounces around all over the place outdoors so they'll get some even in the shade.
