We have been making so much progress! He is still getting used to wearing it but we are walking more distances each time we go outside. He barely picks at it and doesn't hurt me when I'm putting it on. I got so many priceless reactions. I'm even getting less nervous with him each time! We is enjoying out of the cage time and I'm so glad I can take out of the cage time to a whole new level.
Jan, do you want to but the flight suit? I say, go for it! Will a little patience and conditioning, you can have a better relationship with your cockatiel.

Here's an idea for after he's thoroughly used to it. Some people like to take their birds out as unofficial therapy birds or "birdie ambassadors". They take them to visit schools, nursing homes, even hospitals (by prior arrangement of course). Basically any place where seeing a bird would brighten up peoples' day. This could help fill your need to take care of someone, and visiting places like this might help you get a better idea of what you'd like to do later on.

Thank you for the suggestion.
Rio is used to the harness now. I can't believe how far we have gone. I will try to get a video of him outside with it.
