Hi all! I'm Sylvi. I've lurked a bit in this forum but didn't join then since there was a certain member here( that isn't anymore ) that tended to start some arguments. But this seems like a great forum, and I'm glad to join now.

I'm originally from Avian Avenue, which is a fantastic forum.
I'm owned by 2 wonderful dogs, a pair of lovely cats and a little tortoiseshell Syrian hamster. There's also my beloved flock, which consists of my cockatiel Mimi. My GCC Yuka and my newest addition, Kumo, my Fischer Lovebird.

South Florida is great, but surprisingly I adore cold weather much more then the hot and humid I live in.

This one reminds me of a joke. Here in Tucson we call it "icebreak" when the temperature hits 100 degrees for the first time in the year, the idea being that it finally got warm enough to break the ice on the Santa Cruz River. The river doesn't have any water in it most of the time, let alone ice. Phoenix doesn't have a similar concept so one year a writer in the local newspaper came up with several ideas for them. My favorite was "Satan just pulled into the trailer park".

You have quite the little zoo there it seems. I myself have a dog, two tortoises, a pond with a bunch of fish in it, and my flock of 6 (two cockatiels, a diamond dove, two finches and a pionus).

I'm also from Arizona. I actually got one of my cockatiels from Carolyn (tielfan), which is how I found this forum.
I can confirm that the pictures regarding dry heat and all that are very accurate.

Where in Florida are you in. I'm in Miami Beach.
