Hi all!

My name is Bailey and I have 9 Cockatiels and a Green Cheek Conure. I am 22 years old and am self-employed as a pet sitter..I have loved animals of all kinds for as long as I remember.

The Cockatiels live in an indoor aviary (they are free to roam in their bird-proofed room during the day and sleep in the aviary at night) and the GCC has a flight cage to herself; she is allowed out with everyone under supervision only, because she doesn't like other birds and will chase and nip them.

I started keeping birds in June 2011 and have been growing my flock since then, mainly because I find birds in bad situations and feel the need to give them a soft landing.

So we have some bonded male/male pairs and a male/female pair. The female was a chronic layer before I got her, but we haven't had any issues since she joined the flock. There is: Kirk & Mac, Luna & Taz, Kuuky & Violet, Amaria & Pearl, and the lone wolf Torino. Then we have Marley ithe GCC.

8 of the cockatiels are male, 1 is female, and the GCC is female. As you can imagine, it is sometimes very noisy around here. But they have their own room and we've learned to tolerate/tune out the singing/screaming/squawking.

I also have a dog, a hamster, a tarantula, and a 10 gallon fish tank. :-)

I'm the moderator CaliTiels over at TC. What kind of tarantula do you own? I like the little rosehairs myself.

She's a Rose-Hair...named Rose. :bigsmile100:

She is actually my boyfriend's. He got her when he was 16 years old, hence the super original name. Rose is 16 this year. :D

I didn't know spiders could live that long! I've never had a pet tarantula but I see wild ones sometimes.

Oh yes, turantulas can live very long, under the right conditions. Up to 30 years, even

8 males and 1 female! Is there a lot of competition for her attention from many males?
Welcome to the forum!
