In the case of zebra finches, they have little spots on the inside of their mouths so the parents know where to put the regurgitated food. Kind of like a target, in a way. Gouldians however, have little shiny things on the sides of their beak, that look somewhat like teeth, which serve the same exact purpose. very interesting! So they don't need soft food, like tiels, to feed the babies?

I read in another discussion (not here) that the hen craves boiled eggs. Is it safe to feed a lot of cooked eggs?

You can, Chipper. There are other ways to give them protein. If you can't stand meal worms, then egg food is suggested. You can buy a seed mix that can cover just about all the nutrients though, unlike the case for parrots.
It seems I have gotten my information mixed up. Eggfood is actually optional, if you can find a good commercial mix. You can actually make eggfood, which is basically boiled eggs mashed up with crushed egg shells. It's basically there if you are planning on giving a diet made up of fresh kitchen ingredients.
Are you planning on getting some, Chipper? One thing I know that definitely is a necessity for them, is grit, which is basically sand. It is reccomended to buy grit that has mineral-rich materials, like oyster shells.

no, I have handful with my 10 tiels. I talked to Brent's wife in another discussion, I was asking question here so that they can get more information.
